FAQ & Answers
Can I take a picture of the dress I try on?
Yes, you certainly may during the shopping and trying on gowns stage. Photos can be extremely helpful during the decision process. We do not allow photos to be taken at fittings when a seamstress is at work, they may be taken however, once the seamstress has completed pinning the gown.
Is wearing makeup to try on a dress ok?
We respectfully request that brides do not wear makeup when they try on dresses as we do our very best to keep our samples as pristine as possible.
Do I need an appointment?
Please refer to our appointments & walk-ins page.
What do I need to know about special orders?
Bridal Debut carries mostly special order items, meaning that our designers make the garments once they are ordered. Bridal gowns, veils, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and most accessories are all special orders. We recommend ordering a bridal gown a minimum of 8 months in advance and bridesmaid and flower girl dresses a minimum of 4 to 5 months in advance.
Do you require a deposit?
A 50% deposit along with 100% of the GST is required at the time of your gown order and is non-refundable. The balance is due 15 days after the date that we contact you to let you know that your gown has arrived. Accessories must be paid for in full upon ordering.
Do you accept returns?
Sorry, all sales are final. A final sale policy is consistent with the industry standard for bridal and special occasion apparel.
What size of gown will I need?
We compare your measurements to the size chart provided by the designer. This determines the correct size of garment to be ordered. Please note that this is not a made-to-measure process, so alterations will likely be required (alterations are not included in the gown price).
Do you provide alterations?
Please refer to our Fittings & Alterations page.
When is my first fitting?
Please refer to our Fittings & Alterations page.
How do I transport the gown?
Included in your bridal gown experience is a beautiful BD-branded protective cloth gown bag for transporting your dress. Please bring your gown directly home or to your destination of choice. Once your gown is where you want it to be, we suggest that you take the gown out of the bag and let the train down. Hang it in a clean space and make sure to put it somewhere that your groom won’t see it. Also keep in mind that it’s a good idea to keep it out of reach of kids and pets.
